Hanging by the grass wire

May 25, 2011

As much as I love May, the early evening sunlight splashed all over our new terrace, the smell of lime, elder or acacia in the afternoon breeze, the greenness of the grass in the nearby park where T and K play away the afternoons,  the comic whiteness of the recently exposed skin of the people in the streets, the small talk of holiday destinations and pre-season weekends at the seaside, early cherries and forest strawberries, May also means grading season. Lots of grading. And when I say lots, I mean LOTS – 150 essays, 160 short research assignments, 70+ group research reports, 120 handwritten tests, all of this over the past three weeks. Combine that with lecturing and prospect of another pile of essays and tests over the next two weeks, I might say I’m hanging to my sanity by a thin thread. Of grass wire.

But as CC likes to point out, by mid June it will all be over :)
