Actually, I did - it is not amongst the most popular films on photography but makes several really relevant points on meaning and images. I even screen it regularly in my vis. culture class - and tie it with some of postmodern theory of photography. The drive-in movie scene is always fun to watch :)
Part of Memento can be read in the same way as Proof, i.e. image-caption relationship and meaning fluidity.

:))

It's good old hand colouring job, with PS-enhanced saturation. At first I tried to make the edges perfect but than the rugged look seemed to suit the motif better. Plus I think it maches the nostalgia/memory theme - i.e. adding some/obscures other details, shades and impressions.

An yes, socialist recycling wasn't always at its best - for a while, building bricks were made here from (radioactive) ash of thermal power plants.

I really like the treatments of these shots.

An old joke from those days (capitalist propaganda of course).

Q: How do you double the value of a Trabant?
A: Fill it up with fuel.

Every time I see news footage of the people hitting the Berlin wall with sledgehammers etc, I can't help but wonder about their health nowadays, considering that much of the wall was built with recycled asbestos mixed in with the cement.

It would seem that everything has a hidden cost.

It's always about the light.

The top shot is quite a sophisticated image.

The bottom shot looks like the sun got hit by a truck and got squashed into the asphalt. The sun as roadkill!

I love this shot so much, I wish I took it!

Contrast (or chiaroscuro if you wish) is one of the things that helps us in so many ways to see more clearly.

As the old Buddhist monk once said, "without evil there would be no good".

I think the strange colours of polaroid are a good match for how unreliable memories are.

Transient and inacurate.
