You haven’t seen many of these lately and it was about time to revive “things as they are” category and show you a less glamorous pic of a familiar object. The image was not computer manipulated, so you can only guess how the saucer got stuck to the cup :)

This year’s first “things as they are” entry is a genuine fish. Well, a fish fossil, to be more exact, approximate age 30 minutes. Yes, it was slightly over baked but it did leave a nice impression in the baking pan.

…where do I live. Last night, while b-day Champaign was bubbling its way through my sleep and into my dreams, the major crime act of the night was committed by a guy who stole a truck with 107 pigs. When he was caught, he claimed that he stole the truck because he just wanted a ride home. I do wonder what you plan to do with a truck full of pigs, start a farm perhaps? Stock with meat for the rest of your life?
No comment, but you are more than welcome to post one :)
The image is a Holga pic from Dresden.

Black eye strikes again - here is a new edition of things as they are. This time presenting carrots, first in a series of bizarre-shaped vegetables.
Got it for free from our kind vegetable vendor on the market.

As I mentioned in one of the previous posts, Things as they are are my ongoing photo project of a slightly undervalued everyday aesthetics, and you are bound to get an image or two each month. Today’s photo is (obviously) parsley – we rarely get to use the whole bunch so some of it will inevitably fade away.

OK, I admit I was a lazy poster this week but we are just having so much fun with our Japanese friend…
And to make it up to you, here is a little iillustration I fiddled with last week.
I admit this may seem like a side step from the Things as they are project but I decided I’d recycle the images into another project, a series of cards I will name the Alphabet of everyday life. So in the end I’ll have a non-aesthetisation of everyday life plus an aesthetisation of this non-aesthetisation :))
It probably won’t be as sophisticated as this Periodic table of elements I recently came across but I’ll give it my best shot.

I decided I’d start working on a new series of photographs called “Things as they are”. Since it won’t be concentrated work, it might take a while before images pile up, but here is a preview. Banana, as it is. Not the glamorous, advertising type, but its a real-life counterpart that has been laying-about on our the kitchen counter since breakfast.
